Design Considerations Substrate 7 to 24 pt coated stock is recommended. 60 - 100 lb coated stocks may tear when separated and are not recommended. Curling will be evident if a lighter stock is used and coating is applied to only 1 side. For best results, coated stocks are recommended over uncoated stocks. Complementary Processes Mylar High Gloss can be used in conjunction with foil stamping or embossing. This coating has the added feature of glueability. Alternative Processes You may wish to consider UV Bond where gluing is required. Summary of Coating Characteristics | Gloss | Excellent | | Abrasion Resistance | Excellent | | Chemical Resistance | Excellent | | Adhesion | Very Good | | Colour Fidelity | Good | | Glueability | Yes | Environmental Impact | Recyclable | No | | Repulpable | No | | Biodegradable | No |
General Coating and Laminating Guidelines Offset spray should be kept to a minimum. Low-wax, non-bleeding inks should be used. Metallic inks are not recommended. Sufficient time should be allowed for ink to dry before a coating is applied. Rhodamine red, reflex blue and purple should be avoided if possible. Your ink supplier can recommend inks, or call us for a complimentary test and recommendations. Mylar High Gloss can be applied on 1 or 2 sides.
