Design Considerations
Substrate
7 to 24 pt coated stock is recommended for this process. 60 - 100 lb coated stocks can be used, however, some curling may be experienced depending on the stock being used. A heavier coated stock of 100 lbs or more will have a greater resistance to curling, especially if coated on 2 sides.
Special Considerations
For pocket folders, in order to miss a glue flap, it must be no more than 2 inches away from the edge of the sheet. O.P.P. is generally considered non-glueable.
O.P.P. may have a tendency to scuff. For best results, we recommend coated stocks over uncoated stocks.
Alternative Processes
For a comparable finish to O.P.P. High Gloss, you may wish to choose Mylar High Gloss Film Lamination.
Summary of Coating Characteristics
General Coating and Laminating Guidelines
Offset spray should be kept to a minimum. Low-wax, non-bleeding inks should be used, metallic inks are not recommended. Sufficient time should be given for ink to dry before coating is applied. Rhodamine red, reflex blue and purple should be avoided if possible. Your ink supplier can recommend inks, or call us for a complimentary test and recommendations. O.P.P. High Gloss can be applied on 1 or 2 sides.
